St Neots Market Square Regeneration

MSF recently completed the electrical infrastructure package for the St Neots Market Square regeneration project, on behalf of principal contractor Taylor Woodrow. This project has transformed the area into a larger and more flexible square, maximising the space for markets and other events.

MSF’s work included the installation of a new main feeder pillar, 15 x GIFAS in-ground pop-up feeder pillars to provide power to the market stalls, and two in-ground Piccolino units to provide power for festival lighting, including the town’s Christmas Tree.

The team also installed uplighting for the re-located monk statues, and under-seat lighting across the square complete with DALI and DMX cabling.

The wider project required careful sequencing to maintain market operations throughout the nine-month construction programme, and MSF collaborated closely with Taylor Woodrow's team to develop an efficient installation methodology that optimised both timelines and costs.

Rather than making repeated visits to install each GIFAS unit, MSF trained Taylor Woodrow's team to install the concrete chambers themselves. This approach compressed MSF's on-site work to just six weeks, significantly reducing costs.
