A1 Birtley – Coalhouse Improvement Scheme

This project involves improving approximately 4 miles of the A1 between Junctions 65 and 67 by adding an extra lane on both the north and southbound carriageways, and replacing Allerdene railway bridge which carries the A1 over the east coast mainline railway.
