A282 Feeder Pillar Connections

This project involved connecting nine metered feeder pillars to the power network to feed 207 streetlights and signs around junctions 1a and 1b of the M25.
MSF’s ICP team worked with the client to assess the locations for the feeder pillars using a ground penetrating radar. This helped us to identify existing utilities and then produced designs for each of the cabinets, which were approved on time by UKPN.

Collaboration with UKPN

One of the challenges on this project was that the original cabinets were metallic and due to the 2 metre touch rule, and the surrounding metallic street furniture, these had to be adapted to GRP enclosures, which required additional approval. Close liaison between MSF and UKPN meant the approval was granted within the 10 day timeframe and the project was delivered on time, and to budget.
