MSF recently replaced the stadium lighting system at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds, delivering a new ‘FIFA Quality Pro’ approved system that is 12x brighter than the previous lights.

The project involved a complex electrical design to support the installation of 6 x 20-metre Valmont high-masts, each fitted with five DALI-controlled Schreder Briteline Gen-3 floodlights, with a further 17 installed along the Grandstand roofline

Following extensive intrusive testing of the existing foundations, the team confirmed they were suitable for re-use. This meant the new masts could be drilled and fixed directly to the existing foundations, saving time, cost and carbon, and avoiding the need for a full rebuild.

Flexible Lighting Solution

As a multi-use sports centre, the venue needed a lighting solution flexible enough to serve a range of disciplines. The DALI-controlled system allows light levels to be tailored to suit different sporting events, including athletics, football and rugby.
